After meeting at Sabiha Gökçen Airport at 11:00, we depart for Skopje with AJet Airlines scheduled flight VF263 at 14:20. After a flight of approximately one and a half hours, we arrive at Skopje Airport. Following passport and customs procedures, we start exploring Skopje, one of the most characteristic capitals of the Balkans, with our vehicle waiting for us. During our tour, which we will carry out in the streets of one of the largest bazaars established outside the capital in Ottoman history that has survived to the present day, Kapan Han, Sulu Han, Çifte Hamam, Murat Pasha Mosque, Sultan Murad Mosque, Clock Tower, Stone Bridge, Skopje Fortress, statue groups built within the scope of the 2014 Project, Macedonia Square, Vardar River, and Alexander the Great Statue are just some of what we will see in this impressive city. During our free time in the historical bazaar where Ottoman heritage is intertwined with Balkan culture, if you are lucky and it is not sold out, you should eat the famous bitter almond cookie, drink a cold boravitsa if it is in season, and taste the kikiriki. After our free time where we will fully experience the atmosphere of Skopje, we have our dinner at a local restaurant in the historical bazaar. After dinner, transfer to our hotel and overnight stay at our hotel.
After breakfast at our hotel in the morning, we check out of our rooms and depart for Bitola, one of the cities of North Macedonia that smells of history, or as we know it better, Monastir. Monastir, which was one of the most important military, administrative, and diplomatic centers of the Balkans during the Ottoman period, also has a very special place in the life of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. We make our first visit in the city to the Monastir Military High School, where Mustafa Kemal Atatürk studied. After this historical building, which witnessed Atatürk's youth and education life, we continue our walk on Širok Sokak, the most famous point of the city. After a short free time on Širok Sokak, which is considered the heart of the city with its historical consulate buildings, elegant structures, cafes, and lively social life where we can see the traces of the Ottoman period together with European architecture, we depart for Ohrid. Upon our arrival in Ohrid, one of the most beautiful cities of the Balkans with its lake, historical texture, and famous pearls, which is on the UNESCO World Heritage List, we start our walking tour. During our tour in this city, which is built on the shores of Lake Ohrid, famous for its pearl, and is itself as beautiful as a pearl, Ohrid houses, Hagia Sophia Church, Damat Ali Pasha Mosque, Halveti Tekke and Mosque, and the Turkish Quarter are some of the places we will see. After exploring Ohrid on foot, we give free time for you to shop, examine the famous Ohrid pearls, and enjoy the lakeside. We especially recommend you drink a glass of Turkish tea or Turkish coffee in the Turkish Quarter. After free time, we depart for our hotel. After checking into our rooms, dinner and overnight stay at our hotel.
After breakfast at our hotel in the morning, we check out of our rooms and depart for Sv. Naum, which is home to one of the most peaceful natural landscapes of the Balkans. We arrive at the region where the Sv. Naum Monastery, also known as Sari Saltuk, is located, built right on the shore of the source of Lake Ohrid. During the free time to be given here, if you wish, you can visit the church where the tomb of Sv. Naum is located, or you can take a boat tour on the Kara Drim natural springs, which fascinate those who see them with their clarity. After the pleasant time we will spend in Sv. Naum, we depart for the Albanian border. We complete our passport and customs procedures, enter Albania, and reach Elbasan. We visit the Elbasan Fortress and the historical fortress area in the city, which was an important military and commercial center during the Ottoman period. After our arrival in Shkodër, we check into our hotel. Dinner and overnight stay at our hotel.
After breakfast at our hotel in the morning, we check out of our rooms and depart for Kosovo. After completing our passport and customs procedures at the border gate, we enter Kosovo, one of the youngest countries in Europe. Our first stop is the Tomb of Sultan Murad Hüdavendigâr, one of the most important points of Ottoman history in the Balkans. We witness one of the most special legacies of our history in the Balkan geography by visiting the tomb located where the internal organs of Sultan Murad I, who lost his life after the I. Kosovo War in 1389, were buried. After our visit, we depart for Prizren, which carries many traces from the Ottoman period to the present day and where you will feel like you are in an Anatolian town while walking through its streets. In our walking tour in Prizren, Sinan Pasha Mosque, Arasta Mosque Minaret, Ottoman Bath, Stone Bridge, Turkish Consulate, and Prizren Fortress panorama are just some of what we will see. During our free time in and around Shadervan Square, we recommend you taste the delicious food of the region and enjoy the historical streets. After completing our Prizren tour, we leave Kosovo, cross into North Macedonia, and depart for Skopje. In the evening, we prepare for one of the most enjoyable nights of our program. We transfer to our restaurant for the Macedonian Night with dinner, music, and entertainment, which is included in our tour price. After the night where we will have plenty of fun while enjoying local dishes accompanied by Rumelia, Balkan, and Macedonian melodies, we transfer to our hotel. Overnight stay at our hotel.
After breakfast at our hotel in the morning, we check out of our rooms and depart for Matka Canyon, one of the most impressive natural beauties of North Macedonia. Our guests can shop around Knez Mihailova, try different flavors at the ice cream shop recommended by our guide, or drink a pleasant coffee while watching the city. After our tour, transfer to our hotel. Dinner and overnight stay at our hotel.
After breakfast at our hotel in the morning, we check out of our rooms and depart for Sarajevo. During our scenic journey starting from the vast plains and villages of Serbia and continuing with the lush mountains, valleys, and winding roads of Bosnia and Herzegovina, we cross the border into Bosnia and Herzegovina via the Drina River, which we are familiar with from history books. Upon our arrival in Sarajevo, we start to explore the center of the city on foot. During our tour in this unique city where East and West, Ottoman and Austro-Hungarian architecture meet on the same streets, the Sebil, the symbol of the city, Gazi Husrev-beg Madrasa, Gazi Husrev-beg Mosque, Bedesten, Clock Tower, the colorful shops of Baščaršija, Sacred Heart Cathedral, Eternal Flame, Latin Bridge, and Fatih Mosque are just some of what we will see. Our first stop is Konjic, one of the most beautiful small towns in Bosnia and Herzegovina, established on both banks of the Neretva River, famous for its historic stone bridge and impressive scenery. We take a short coffee break here accompanied by the view of the Neretva River and the historic bridge. Coffee and other beverages are not included in the tour price and are at the guests' own expense. After our break, we head to the village of Počitelj, which resembles an open-air museum that has survived from the Ottoman era to the present day. In this historic Ottoman settlement built on a hillside overlooking the Neretva Valley, we feel the centuries-old Balkan atmosphere with its stone houses, hammam, mosque, clock tower, and old cobblestone streets. After our visit to Počitelj, we arrive in Mostar, one of the most important cities in the region. Known for its world-famous bridge, which is on the UNESCO World Heritage List, destroyed by Croatian artillery fire during the recent Bosnian War and later rebuilt with the contributions of the Republic of Türkiye, Mostar will transport you to a completely different atmosphere with its narrow and authentic streets remaining from the Ottoman era. During our tour, the Mostar Bridge, Koski Mehmed Pasha Mosque, the Turkish Consulate, the historic bazaar, and the martyrs' cemetery are some of the places we will see. If we are lucky, we may also see the young people who jump from the bridge for show, a tradition with a story dating back centuries. After our tour, we provide free time for you to shop for souvenirs unique to Mostar and enjoy the historic bazaar. Then, we head to Blagaj, established right under giant cliffs at the source of the Buna River. We give free time in Blagaj, one of the most photographed spots in Bosnia and Herzegovina with its unique natural scenery where water emerges from between the rocks and its historic dervish lodge (tekke). Entrance to the Blagaj Tekke is not included in the tour price. Guests who wish to do so may visit the tekke by paying the entrance fee individually. After our Blagaj excursion, we return to Sarajevo and transfer to our hotel. Dinner and overnight stay at our hotel.
After breakfast at our hotel in the morning, we check out of our rooms and head to Vrelo Bosna, the final stop of our beautiful journey in the Balkans. Before bidding farewell to the Balkans, we head to Sarajevo Airport following our pleasant excursion in nature. After our baggage, ticket, and passport procedures, we depart for Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport at 13:50 with AJet Airlines flight VF98. With our arrival in Istanbul at 17:45 local time, we come to the end of our Balkan Tale tour, which extended from North Macedonia to Albania, Kosovo to Serbia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina, filled with history, culture, nature, and Balkan flavors, and we say goodbye to meet again on another trip.
