Meeting at Istanbul Airport International Departures Turkish Airlines counter 3 hours before the flight. After passport and check-in procedures, depart for Sarajevo with Turkish Airlines scheduled flight TK1021 at 14:50. Following our arrival at local time 14:40, we depart for Sarajevo city center with our vehicle waiting at the area. Sarajevo, the capital and largest city of Bosnia and Herzegovina, is a very important center specifically in the Balkans. The city is the meeting point of Roman Catholic peoples in the west, Eastern Orthodox in the east, and Ottoman peoples in the south. While serving as an example of a clash of civilizations throughout history, it is also a beacon of hope for peace with its multiculturalism and tolerance. Also known for its religious diversity, Muslims, Christians of various denominations, and Jews have been living together for centuries in the city. Reflecting its vast historical diversity in its architecture, some points of the city resemble a Central European city, while at other points just a few streets away, the effects of Ottoman or Soviet-style socialist modernism can be encountered. Upon arriving at the center, during our walking city tour, we will see Vijecnica (Central Library) built as a town hall during the Austro-Hungarian Empire period but used as a national library today, Inat Kuca (Spite House) with its surprising story, the Bosna River, the Latin Bridge which has survived from the Ottoman Period, and the exact spot where the Austro-Hungarian archduke was shot, sparking the First World War. Afterwards, we will proceed to Baščaršija, the historical center of Sarajevo, famous for its Ottoman-era cobblestone narrow streets, traditional bazaar, and historical mosques. In this region, it is possible to hear the call to prayer at the same time while passing by a church or a synagogue. The Baščaršija Sebilj and Pigeon Square, historical clock tower, Sacred Heart Cathedral, and Morić Han, the only surviving Ottoman inn from the Ottoman Period, are among the places we will see in the Baščaršija region. We will end our tour by seeing the Eternal Flame (Vjecna Vatra), dedicated to the military and civilian losses who liberated Sarajevo in World War II. The monument consists of tiles with inscriptions in the colors of the former Yugoslav flag (blue, white, and red) and features a copper vessel in the shape of a laurel wreath inside which an open flame burns continuously. Then our next stop will be Blagaj. In this historical town, we will see the Blagaj Tekke, built as an Ottoman dervish lodge along the Buna River and surrounded by high cliffs, and you can have your lunch during the free time provided along the Buna River. Following the break, we will arrive in Mostar after a short journey. During our walking tour in the city, established around the Neretva River, we will first see the Stari Most (Mostar Bridge). A masterpiece of Ottoman architecture, the bridge is the symbol of the city. Although it was destroyed in the clashes in late 1992, it was rebuilt in 2004 with the major contribution of the Republic of Turkey. The Koski Mehmed Pasha Mosque will also be among the places seen during our tour. Free time after our tour. Transfer to our hotel at the time specified by our guide. Overnight at the hotel.
